Master Lori Coppinger (Tyler) began her training in Cheezic Tang Soo Do in 1981 at Central Connecticut State University. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, a Master of Arts degree in Theology, and attended the Connecticut Police Academy and the FBI National Academy. She is currently employed as Detective Captain at the West Hartford Police Department, is an Adjunct Instructor at Northwestern Connecticut Community College, and instructs police officers in self-defense.
Master Coppinger has had a distinguished martial arts career, excelling in her areas of specialty: self-defense and sparring. She was named 1991 Woman of the Year by the Professional Karate League (PKL) Hall of Fame, rated number one in New England and number three nationally in 1991 for sparring by the PKL Pro/Am Circuit, and rated number one in the nation in sparring in 1993 by the PKL Pro/Am Circuit.
